Why we often “misunderstand” each other and how we can avoid this
Communication accompanies us every day and is one of the most important tools in everyday (professional) life. Listening, giving feedback and sometimes offering good criticism – that doesn’t sound difficult. But if they don’t work, they can cause a lot of sand to collect in the gears, which can jeopardize a company’s workflows and processes.
Module 1 of Emotional Competencies is dedicated to the topic of communication and feedback and uses group work, interactions and role plays to shed light on our communication in everyday situations. What does feedback involve and how can I give it correctly? This module also looks at ways of dealing with criticism and the various findings of communication researchers. By understanding how and why misunderstandings or “miscommunication” arise in the first place, initial changes in communication behavior can be set in motion. Because people cannot “not communicate” – they become the “I” through the “you”!
