We love fairness.
Grindelwald is a place that gives you strength.
The nature that inspires us every day is the foundation of our lives. Without it, there would be neither unforgettable experiences nor the special sense of home that defines our region. To ensure that this remains the case, we want to work together to ensure that it stays as unique, vibrant, and authentic as it is today.
WE ARE SWISSTAINABLE!
We are part of the Swisstainable sustainability program and are classified as Level II – engaged. By participating, we are committing ourselves to continuous sustainable corporate development and thus making a concrete contribution to sustainable Swiss tourism.
Sustainability crew
With our “Green Group” we pool our superpowers to raise sustainability awareness among our teams, put green ideas into action, and implement measures together.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Sustainability is not only evident in our approach to nature, but also in our interactions with each other. We take responsibility for creating a respectful, inspiring work environment and for the people who make up our team.
Professional development
We provide financial support for the professional and personal development of our team. To this end, we offer “selfness” courses with external coaches on topics such as personal development, goal setting, and solution-oriented action. You can find more information about this under our events.
LOCAL COMMITMENT
Our deep local ties enable us to design our hotel exactly as we envision it.
- Swissness Minibar – typical Swiss specialties await you in the minibar, which is included in the room price
- Regional food – “Eigerness Original Grindelwald”
- Local breakfast buffet – local cheese, fresh yogurt, and eggs from the Haifmattenhof farm
WfW – WATER FOR WATER
At Barrys Restaurant, Bar & Lounge, we serve locally sourced drinking water, still or sparkling, and with every bottle sold, we support WfW’s water, hygiene, and education projects in Mozambique, Zambia, and Switzerland.
The drinking water in Grindelwald is of excellent quality, so you can fill your carafe in your room with fresh water at any time.

SOLAR ENERGY & HEAT RECOVERY
We obtain part of our energy from newly installed solar panels on our roof. This allows us to harness the power of the sun to make our energy consumption more sustainable and conserve resources.
Heat recovery covers part of our energy requirements. We obtain the remaining energy (heating/hot water) from Grindelwald’s wood-fired heating system,
which supplies us with climate-neutral district heating from renewable
energy sources (wood).
HOTELS FOR TREES
When our guests opt out of cleaning, we donate CHF 5 to the non-profit foundation Hotels for Trees. This donation will plant a tree and enable us to contribute directly to (re)forestation projects worldwide.
Hotels for Trees aims to make the hotel industry in Europe more sustainable by converting cost savings from room cleaning into newly planted trees.
MY CLIMATE – CAUSE WE CARE
As a hotel guest, you too can get involved and contribute to local climate protection. We will double your donation of CHF 2 per night and invest it in effective sustainability measures directly on site.
Part of the sum will be used to support high-quality international climate protection projects run by the myclimate foundation, whereby we are supporting the Naturwaldreservat Beatenberg-Habkern natural forest reserve in the canton of Bern.
EIGER AMENITIES
We deliberately avoid single-use hygiene products and instead offer environmentally friendly, reusable alternatives – our bathroom amenities are manufactured by Ada Cosmetics. These are available for purchase at reception.
REUSEME Flip Flops
Instead of using disposable flip-flops, we invite you to purchase our reusable spa flip-flops from REUSEME.
The items are also available for your home at eigershop.ch!
In our sustainability brochure, you will find further information and practical tips on how to make your trip more sustainable. Enjoy reading!
