The wild area around Makalu is still untouched by tourism. The Ice-Col Route leads over three high, glacial passes, the Amphu Lhaptsa (5,780 m), West Col (6,135 m) and East Col (6200 m) to the foot of Makalu. A very demanding, extreme trekking.
